Introduction

The South Fence Machinery Ltd Hinge Joint Machines have been developed from the Company’s extensive experience of more than 75 years in the manufacture of wire products and machinery specifically designed and produced for the manufacture of rural wire fence products.

It is the vast experience gained over the years that has enabled South Fence Machinery Ltd to identify and design features to facilitate the most economic and efficient manufacture of wire fence products.

The Hinge Joint Machine has played a major part in the Company’s successes, which include advancing hinge joint fence to a leading position in the New Zealand market and pioneering world production of high tensile farm fences.

Features

From the latest three dimensional CAD drawing and design techniques and the precision machining of components through to the final assembly, machines are produced to South Fence Machinery’s exacting standards by the company’s own skilled staff.

Machine characteristics ensure long economic life with minimum maintenance, ease of operation, simple servicing and adjustment for quick change of fence specifications.

Standard machines are designed for fences with up to 11 line wires to a maximum height of 55” (1.410 metres), while wide machines allow for up to 14 line wires with a maximum fence height of 78” (2 metres).

Both machine models have interchangeable stay wire pitches of 6” (152mm) and 12” (304mm). Wide machines produce all fence specifications which can be made on standard machines and also allow for manufacture of Deer Fence, Predator Control Fence or low cost Security Fence, all of which require greater than normal height.

Safety

A full and comprehensive risk assement is conducted on all South Fence machines.

Safety features include;

  • 2mm punch panel guard system powder coated.
  • Category 4 Light Curtains on both front and rear of the machine.
  • Category 4 Interlock switches on all movable guards.
  • Stand alone safety PLC to monitor all safety related control features.
  • Safe stop/Stand still monitors used in conjunction with Siemens drives.
  • Where necessary Festo pneumatic safety valves and safety regulators are installed.
  • Warning signage where appropriate.
